Rocklyn Academy E-mail

On May 16th, La Loba Arts facilitated a Memories and Mandalas Workshop for 16 young women from Rocklyn Academy.  Although we had created this workshop for adults, we were amazed how well it translated into a workshop for teens.  They were an incredible group to work with.  Here are some of their comments:

"I liked how my horrible drawing was excepted and I like how I had an amazing time with the mandalas.  I liked the smudging a lot because I feel my negative energy is now gone."

"I really enjoyed all the different activities today.  It was very interesting how we started the day off.  It was fun playing the drums, journaling, relaxing, painting, walking around and sharing bits of info."

"I had a great time while I was here!  It was really interesting as to how we got to learn some new things and were given the opportunity to pretty much just express how we felt throughout.  Being here was really fun and I'm glad the day was organized with different self soothing activities.  I would definitely love to come again!"

"I had a really good time today.  I enjoyed everything a lot.  I looked inside myself and figured a lot of stuff out.  I loved the meditating."

"I love being very open and immersing myself in all there was to offer here!  Thanks for sharing everything!"

"I like how open we were and how much freedom we had in the art we did."

Memories and Mandalas E-mail

On May 18th, 2009, La Loba Arts facilitated a workshop entitled Memories and Mandalas.  Inside the geodesic dome a group of amazing women explored body memory through writing, storytelling, drumming, smudging, visualization and the creation of a mandala.  i can't begin to describe what a beautiful day it was.  We all connected.  I can't wait 'till the next one.

Rocklyn Academy Workshop E-mail

On January 10th and 11th, 2009 La Loba Arts and The Bay School of Art teamed up to host a workshop weekend for the young women at Rocklyn Academy. Through journal writing, music, slide shows and visualizations everyone was able to tap into their essential selves and create incredible paintings, multi-media box art and masks. Both Michelle Fleming and I were amazed by this groups ability to focus so intently and tirelessly on their projects. I think they could've lasted another two days just expressing themselves creatively. It was a joy to watch.
